FRP Hydrolysis Reactor for Acid and High-Temperature Service
In an acid-hydrolyzed soy sauce or seasoning process, the reactor may be exposed to hydrochloric acid, elevated temperature, solids and continuous mixing.
The tank cannot be designed according to capacity alone. The following conditions must be confirmed first:
- Hydrochloric acid feed concentration
- Maximum acid concentration inside the tank
- Operating and design temperature
- Liquid density, viscosity and solids content
- Heating method and steam conditions
- Mixer power, speed, torque and support loads
- Batch time and cleaning procedure
For demanding acid and high-temperature service, a phenolic epoxy vinyl ester resin system such as DERAKANE 470 may be considered for both the corrosion barrier and structural laminate. Final resin selection must be confirmed against the actual acid concentration and temperature profile.
The reactor can also be designed with:
- A resin-rich corrosion barrier
- Reinforced mixer-support structure
- Inlet, outlet and drain connections
- Temperature and level instrument nozzles

FRP Soy Sauce Storage Tank for Clean and Reliable Storage
After hydrolysis, fermentation, filtration or blending, the finished soy sauce requires a separate storage tank.
Unlike the reactor, the storage tank normally does not require the same high-temperature acid-resistant structure. Its inner resin system should instead be selected according to the customer's applicable food-contact regulations and product conditions.
